The Honeywell Center and
Eagles Theatre treated kids (and parents!) to a week of free activities during Winter
Break. Free movies, art projects, skating, and lunch were offered FREE OF CHARGE.

A Gingerbread
Christmas - a free holiday festival for kids!
The
Honeywell Center's annual free holiday festival had a gingerbread theme this year. Kids
enjoyed making gingerbread make and take crafts, took part in making gingerbread trail mix
with Wabash Extension, listened to Christmas stories read by members of IVY Tech SGA, and
had their pictures taken with Santa!

Miami County
student artists
honored at reception
Hundreds of Miami County students and parents gathered for a
reception to honor the entrants in the 2011 Banner Contest. The young artists
submitted original artwork with several chosen to have their art made into light
pole banners to decorate downtown Peru. Other winners were chosen to have
their art transformed into holiday e-cards.

Kid-O-Rama still bringing smiles to young faces
The Honeywell Center's free annual family festival Kid-O-Rama drew
hundreds of people looking to have fun participating in the numerous events that day. Kids

Comedy legend Bill Cosby delivers side-splitting laughter to Honeywell Center audience
Comedian, author, TV and movie star Bill Cosby walked onto the Honeywell
Center stage on Sept. 11, honored the men and women lost ten years ago, and then proceeded
to bring a recently engaged couple on stage to hilariously relive the proposal! For the
rest of the evening, he brought down the house with numerous stories relating to his
everyday life.

ZZ Top plays to sold out crowd
A party on the plaza welcomed the fans of ZZ Top when they recently came
to the HOneywell Center! Fans got warmed up by the Groovetones out on the Honeywell Center
plaza before entering the Ford Theater and witnessing the rock legends perform hits like
"Sharp Dressed Man," "LaGrange," and "My Head's in
Mississippi."

Senior Outreach Program
features Candie Cooper
Local author and artist Candie Cooper visited senior living facilities
recently as part of the Honeywell Center's Senior Outreach Program. Candie taught the
residents a form
of Mexican folk art called "Hojalata." Then together they emossed and colored
tin shapes to decorate a picture frame, and left the workshop with their own unique piece
of Mexican folk art.

The 2011 Kunkel Cruise-In
The 2011 Kunkle Cruise-In brought in great cars and great people for
Friday and Saturday. Beautiful weather greeted the classic vehicles that lined Market
Street and filled the plaza and Honeywell Center lobby. Ths annual event drew a great crowd that is already looking forward
to next year's show.

1964 The Tribute rocks four generations of Beatles fans!
1964 The Tribute, the group Rolling Stone Magazine called "The #1
Beatles show in the world," took the stage and gave Beatles fans young and old a
performance filled with hits like "She Loves You," "When I'm 64,"
"Tax Man," and "Penny Lane."

Spike & The Bulldogs cause hundreds to cut a rug!
Spike & The Bulldogs performed everyone's favorite hits from the 50s
and 60s in the Honeywell Center Gym, and set
the tone for the evening's sock hop! Hundreds danced throughout the night to hits like
"Splish Splash," "Hang on Sloopy," and "Surfer Girl."

The Kids Art Workshops have been popular! Clark Gallery manager Andrea
Zwiebel has helped them how to make handmade note cards and tie dye t-shirts. In the final
class kids make their own Jack Sparrow necklaces!

Darius Rucker returns to the Honeywell Center
Country singer Darius Rucker returned to a sold out Ford Theater and
promptly gave a performance that proved he's worthy of his numerous gold and platinum
records. Rucker's performance included hits like "The Craizest Thing," "Come Back Song," and even some
Hootie and the Blowfish!

Randy Travis wows the Honeywell Center crowd
Legendary country singer/songwriter Randy Travis was in great form as he
entertained an almost sold out Ford Theater crowd. Travis took time to engage everyone
with jokes and humorous stories inbetween performing great hits like "Forever and
Ever, Amen," "On the Other Hand," and "Too Gone, Too Long"!

2011 Summer Bash helps kids kick their summer off with free activities
The 2011 Summer Bash event gave local kids something to do and start their
summer right. In addition to free skating for beginners and those more comfortable on
wheels, there was a free art project, free lunch for kids at Eugenia's Restaurant, a free
dance workshop, and a free movie at Eagles Theatre!

John Kirkwood Band kicks
off the 2011 Plaza Music Series
Spring is finally here and so is the long awaited 2011 Plaza Music Series!
John Kirkwood Band came back for a third year and didn't waste time bringing great music
and entertainment to the more than 500 people who showed up to see them. The series

Candie Cooper's Art Workshops prove to be quite popular
Local author/designer Candie Cooper has been offering art workshops at the
Honeywell Center, and so far they have all SOLD OUT! Budding artists have learned
different techniques on wet felting for fabric collages, and fusing metal without the use
of heat for making pendants and charms. Check our website for the next available
workshops!

Aaron Lewis and friends share rock and country hits along with some favorite covers
Aaron Lewis and friends entertained the Honeywell Center crowd on the
evening of May 5th with songs from his recently released CD Town
Line. Lewis also played a number of Staind hits along with some Cyndi Lauper and
Madonna tunes thrown in for good measure.

Easter activites enjoyed by hundreds
Young festival-goers were able to create Easter crafts at Bunny Bash, the
Honeywell Center's annual spring festival. The free event included a coloring
contest; make-and-take crafts, a storybook corner, egg coloring, and visits with the
Easter Bunny. Bunny Bash is part of the Honeywell Center's Educational Outreach
Program.

Spring Breakers enjoy
free activities
Students staying close to home for their spring break were able to enjoy free
activities through the Honeywell Center and Eagles Theatre. Over four days of activities
more than 1000 students enjoyed free skating, free art projects, free dance workshops led
by Dance Kaleidoscope, and free lunches in Eugenia's Restaurant. In addition, more than
1800 enjoyed free movies at the Eagles Theatre.

Golden Rollers Weekly Senior Skating Begins
The Honeywell Center
invites all active seniors to become a Golden Roller! Every Tuesday (March 15
through May 31) the Honeywell Center Rink will be open for free skating, dancing, playing
cards, and companionship. Complimentary coffee and treats are available.
Senior Skating is part of the Honeywell Center's Senior Outreach Program.

Battle
of the Bands
The Honeywell Center theater interns produced the first-ever
Battle of the Bands in early May. The interns produced and promoted the event
entirely on their own, including organizing the event, lighting design, running sound
boards, and marketing. Four bands competed with Small Town taking home the title.

Steve Seskin visits regional schools
Songwriter Steve Seskin presented an anti-bullying
program to thousands of regional elementary students. Seskin also worked with
several classrooms to write
original songs that fit in to the program, aptly titled
Operation Respect. Seskin's visit culminated in a
concert at the Honeywell Center, during which Seskin
invited students in the audience to join him onstage
for a few songs.

once again a hit!
Aaron Barker, Chris Wallin,
Brooke Burrows, and Ira
Dean performed an outstanding concert Friday night.
The 4 songwriters sang their top hits and told the
stories behind the writing of each one. After the
show, they all hung around and met each and every
fan. This concert has become an annual favorite for
country fans!
